Tail: is diagonal cut that makes it get less tangled and flows less angularly.
Half Circle: flows & flutters . weighted on the straight edge OR the circle edge for a panel skirt.

A large 9ft veil with a tail is absolutely magnificent. It’s large enough to wrap yourself fully and fills any large stage quite well. By using small stage techniques + practice, one can use this in small spaces too, never fear. I have used this on 60×40foot stages in Vegas and 6×6 foot stages in Chicago and New York. :)
This veil is your infinite potential - undyed & sewn with high quality silk thread so you could dye it yourself should you desire to. It also catches the light thrown up on it and becomes that color for the moment.

This style of ‘flow prop’ is designed to get you out of your head and into your body by enveloping both dancer and viewers in high quality Chinese silk. It is accessible to beginners, yet offers complexity for years and years of devoted explorations & refinement. The weighted edge ‘leads’ the rest of the veil, offering more direction than just a silk veil itself. A whole flow-losophy has emerged out of Gaea’s experience with this prop, and she teaches online via classes & tours sharing it. Versatile: costume, garment, skirt, cape, wrap ; as a decorative element in the home ; and as flow prop that can be used in a myriad of ways. (This design is the product of 10+ years of development and refinement by Gaea herself, please do not replicate without permission! )

Movement : This large style veil is big enough to wrap most bodies, and flutters sumptuously with the tail diagonal edge in curvaceous shapes that are varied and infinite. Ideal for larger spaces (but can be adapted for smaller with skill) this large shape takes up space! I recommend you move your body a lot when dancing with large veils. [The dyed color spot on this veil creates more spiral movement for the eye, making your swirls catching and fetching.]

This undyed half circle is a blank canvas for you to dance with! The rounded shape flutters more than the rectangularish large veil, and suits itself to costume pieces a bit more. ;) This white will take on any color of the light that is thrown upon it, and can be dyed if you choose.

Movement : the long rounded edge of this medium sized flutters like a petal, a sea creature, a wing. It is perfect as a skirt, a panel skirt, a cape (front or back, or side), a head wrap, or more… It’s rounded shape means you’ll step on it less, and the shape throws big. Great for small or large spaces, thisshape is a favorite (and try it with 2 at a time, in each hand or the same, if you dare :) )

built upon hundreds of hours of devoted practice & performance to bring you a silk

experimentation in studio, nature, and stage over the course of my weighted veil
journey starting in 2009. And, much of this is built upon the movement training I’ve
had since the age of 5 - which is ever evolving and flowing in ways to this day.
With over 26 classes + 17 tutorials + 4 movement meditations, there is so much here
for you to dive into. I encourage you to find your own flow, embody the silk veil in
your own unique way, and slip sweetly into flow state to re-sculpt your neural
pathways towards easefully moving from struggle to flow.
The technical aspects of the silk veil are broken down here at the request of my
students over the years- as my silk veils have blossomed from a personal passion
done in my home studio with my fire & flow troupe to an internationally-wide art
form with weighted veil practitioners all over Europe, Australia, Asia, Central
America, South America, and beyond. It’s pretty incredible to imagine how following
my creative spark one evening created such a domino effect.

Double handed flow is twice as nice, especially as you get to know (and love) your non-dominant hand. In this 3 part series, we flow with flags - what we call smaller veils. These are often squarish, smaller sizes that can internally rotate (fit under your arm in a swoosh), but the techniques covered in this series can also be applied to double large veils or double weighted capes or skirts.

I highly recommend practicing with a pair of poi - weighted balls on strings - to help you learn and expand. We’ll be deeply moving into flow arts concepts of timing, pattern, direction, and rhythm throughout the series to ground you into a structure to build upon as you expand your own unique flow patterns.
When we work with both hands simultaneously we build brain-body connections that often boggle the mind itself. This is very important work to do to balance our beings. And, it takes lots and lots of dedication, time, and practice.
Students should have a pair of silk flags, but can substitute 2 matching veils (the smaller the better), poi, veil poi, silk fans, or … get creative!
This is a series focusing on the burlesque intersection of veils, specifically, something Gaea has never done before. Using techniques from the flow arts, classic & nouveau tease elements, her uniquely designed curriculum, and her decades of experience, Gaea weaves 3 masterclasses together to launch you to tease, please, whether you’re experienced or a beginner.
Gaea uses weighted silk veils in her burlesque dances to titillate and hypnotize. Her performances have won multiple awards & toured her around the globe. The veils and style inspire students to study with her & create art inspired with the veils.
The weighted veil is part fabric, part screen, part flow art tool, part garment, part body expansion, part boa...it offers a huge amount of versatility. The classic veil wraps up *so* many nuances of burlesque & bellydance - and allows for complete new ways of thinking to expand into.
In this 3 part masterclass series, Gaea guides you through her favorite techniques for wrapping & holding to obscure or reveal the body, offers tips & tricks, advises on the best veil sizes for tease work, and explores gestures & body postures to highlight the veil. We’ll activate our sensuality, invoke intention, and learn a piece of choreography in part 3 to integrate it all together.
Participants: bring a journal, a pen, your veil, and a way to record yourself (a phone, camera, or enable your webcam.) Wear something that makes you feel great and won’t stick too much to the veil. More Skin is best.

In this masterclass series I guide you in flow & techniques developed over a decade of training, flow explorations, performances, burlesque, and play. This is great for the newbie or if you want to refine the basics of your technique (seriously, these drills are ALWAYS a good idea, even for the most advanced).
Learn how to hold and use the veil, clean up your planes, get untangled, and use directionals.
