Artful Adventures
Radical Moon Love: Wild Possibilities
Gaea Lady and Laine Bones are Adventuresses, Explores, Creators, and Lovers who decide to follow their hearts and leap in faith to live a work of art while wandering with purpose. This is the chronicle of βArtful Adventuresβ - a sailing-based multimedia voyage traveled from Chicago, IL to St. Petersburg, Florida, traveling to St. Croix, USVI, where we will live and create for the 2027 season.
We weave ecological storytelling, radical self-reliance coupled with community support, and healing-centered creative practice into a transformative journey.
As we sail across the Gulf and Caribbean, we engage in movement rituals, somatic arts, and sustainable travel methods that explore water as a catalyst for personal and collective transformation. Upon arrival in St. Croix, we expand into community workshops, collaborative artmaking, and environmental partnerships, culminating in a multimedia archive that connects coastal communities through creativity, resilience, and shared stewardship.
We travel to fill our souls, dance-diving in to every opportunity that enchants us. Follow our journey as we art around the world & learn so much about how to maintain two traveling off-grid tiny homes.
Live With Less Stuff, and More Heart.
Soul-full Travel
Throughout our voyages we, Laine and Gaea, engage in somatic movement, ritual, and multimedia storytelling that explore water as a catalyst for personal and collective transformation. Our sustainable travel methods model lowβimpact, regenerative engagement with the marine environments we live amongst, honoring the living systems beneath the hull as we discover deeper ways to belong to this planet.
This voyage is an artful adventure. Our vessel is home for daily artistic practice: movement to tune into our bodies, handcrafts to beautify, creative fixes, water dancing, and conscious moments.
In documenting our voyage, we share what we FEEL to invoke awe of a mythical reality attainable by all. Our practice evolves with the evocative water surrounding us. We weave poetic musings, practical how-tos, dance classes, flows, and fire, into embodied heart-full storytelling videos.
A new paradigm must feel irresistible.
Two women, a van, a boat.
Big Hearts that love the earth and seek to amplify how we can caregive this Earth of ours while we tune into the rhythms of our bodies through ritual, movement, and art-making.
who are we?
Laine Bones
Laine is a fire performer and flow artist who embodies the essence of Neverland and all its characters.
She fell in love with island life & boating on St Thomas in the Virgin Islands in 2016, and changed her life to step onto the water. She worked on yachts to learn all she could about what it will take to live full time on the water. She takes all those lessons with her into safety, engine work, plumbing, electrical and anything else that she needs to learn to make this life possible.
Currently taking on jobs wherever they present themselves; boats, bars, gyms and workshops world wide. While also diving deeper into training flow arts to be able to teach and share the joy movement and expression brings her.
She believes in living through the activism of defining new social norms of what women can do and where they belong.
Gaea Lady
Gaea is a creatrix and traveling performer of fire, flow, silks and burlesque. Dancing dreams into reality while spreading the love of silks, flow, radical self expression and acceptance all over the world, she strongly stands for following your dreams.
Sheβs traveled around the world already, and now is thrilled to get to take her home and art studio with her from the sea to the stage.
Gaea fell in love with sailing in the Virgin Islands in 2023, which changed her whole life towards βYou can LIVE on a sailboat?!β Taking classes in Chicago and apprenticing on Uptown Girl, she loves learning the engineering for solar, sail trim, rigging, chart plotting, and new learning necessary for an off grid adventure lifestyle that integrates her artmaking & environmentalist view.
Find her and more of her story on Youtube, Patreon, and Instagram.
Aruna
In 2024 we bought our van Aruna in Florida & took an inaugural trip north to Chicago, Gaeaβs homeland. βArunaβ means moonlove in Japanese
Built out by Gregory of Rad Times Campers, this full solar pop-top camper rig feels like a treehouse home. Framed out on a Ford Econoline 150, she is rugged and ready to go from mountains to beach. And we take her there :)
SV Uptown Girl
We adopted our sailboat that same summer of 2024 in Chicago⦠unexpectedly fast!
SV Uptown Girl is a 1977 Morgan OutIsland 33 - a beautiful boat deserving of a lot of love. Weβve been renovating her to be off-grid capable, safe, ready for anything, motorable & sailable, and our artful studio wherever we are.
Sheβs been a freshwater Great Lakes boat most of her life, and sheβs now in Floridaβ¦ and soon the Bahamas, Caribbean and beyond!
