Creativity as Transformation

I identify as a creatrix

Creator, creatress

With life as my canvas

And creativity, my constant,

I am transforming.

Identifying as an artist and making my living as an artist full-time, I use creativity to both generate & express, as well as to move past & overcome obstacles that keep me from being fully in my pleasure & flow. These obstacles have included social programming and concepts I learned during formative times from those around me.

Creativity transforms my outlook towards one of curiosity, critical thinking, joy & pleasure.

When I look at what I want to create, and create from where I’m at, I understand that creativity is essentially thoughtfully engaging the universe around us. In this mode of thinking, we can all live a creative and artistically transformative life. When we surrender to the feminine powers of creation, balanced with the structure of the masculine, we can bring forth something new.  (note: these are energetic, and do not need to be physical.) We ALL have the power to bring newness into being. The power to create is intrinsic, and the creative outpourings can open up waterfalls of abundant artful living.

An attitude shift towards creative inquisitiveness begins to unfold new ways of being in real time.

Whatever your mode of creating is, allow the nudges you feel and inspirational niggles you experience to be entertained.  Let them alight, move to you and through you in your own unique expression - no masterpieces needed. This process is one of delight. then turns us on to pleasure living and the cycle of ART IS LIFE turns evermore. For, when we see our life as an interactive creation, it becomes art. Our life becomes a work of art, our very being an artistic expression. Creating creations rooted in our own pleasure fueled by creativity is the backbone of such an existence. And that is the transformation of life’s moments.

I remind myself:  “Make art from where you are at.”

Stop judging your ideas & start creating them.  Art has infinite unique expressions, why not create your own interpretation? Open to your creative powers and see the sparks start to flow. Creativity is a flow, a wave. To create is to channel inspiration.Innovation is creation. At times, Creating is frustrating AF. For everyone. Creating is a direct manifestation of our imaginations. Creativity is as vast and unique as every individual who taps into it. When asked how she views creativity as transformation, my friend, student & co-creator Meg Feigel wrote that

“Curiosity flows into creativity flows into wonder flows into...everything and nothing and everything and beyond... the transformation which takes place along the journey can build worlds and change lives and alter the path forward into something beyond our wildest imaginations.”

The stream of infinite potential channeled by Meg’s words is a flow I experience when I tap into the current moment and get curious about reinventing what/how I’m experiencing everything through my senses. It brings me to the ultimate experience of….  Whatever it is Meg is talking about that is just beyond the reach of rational thought.

It’s about the journey.

Being in the present of the “everything and nothing” means creativity is accessible even--especially--in the rocky, tough, icky, hard, uncomfortable bits. Tuning into the capacity to create our own reality helps process my traumas & stuck spots, and move from stagnation to movement. Transformation from one to the other is a pathway, a line, a web. Transform through the icky bits with creative expression. I often can’t clearly see the end result or even the actual actions--but I trust my ability to express creatively and let whatever needs out to come out. The creative outpourings can open up waterfalls of abundant artful living.

So, trust that it’s all part of the path, unfolding as it needs to, and creativity may just sprout forth. Micromanaging and judging will shut it all down, and pushing the transformation often leads to something that just doesn’t stick. It is easy to fall into a trap of thinking that creativity is a product that must look or be received a certain way. The paradox is that accepting things - and yourself - as you are is paramount in surrendering to the Transforming power of creativity.

Where do you find your authentic pleasure? The true pleasure that fuels your creativity?

Nenna offered words of deep insight into the sweet surrender of creative transformation by stating that:

“Creatively engaging in an activity offers an interesting conundrum in that when we DO without an agenda or self-criticism it allows us to purely BE. Then those traps of self-perception which we identify as our reality fall away. We are able to BE without doubt, to experience the present moment, to develop the present moment in an exploration of what can be. We can experience our inner LOVE without any filter, without any blockages, and without AVOIDANCE.”

Limit and notice avoidance. Creativity shapes our very existence, it is a magic that sits in your fingertips, waiting for your creative spark to set it alight.

While matter cannot be created nor destroyed, the power of creation is our ability to rearrange what exists, spark natural processes to create themselves, & bring new life into being in many of its varied forms. Lean into and trust the transformational nature of creativity. Living this way opens a wellspring that connects us to the all-that-is, the universal power of oneness.  Time disappears and what was work becomes play.  We become the creator of our reality.

So, I ask “What will you do with it, what worlds will you bring into being today?”

Move from where you are at, move from pleasure, and witness yourself as you are transformed by creativity.
